Support
Calister is made by one person. If something does not work, a drawing does something you did not expect, or you have an idea, send an email and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
If you are testing the beta, you can also send feedback from TestFlight: take a screenshot while
Calister is open and choose Send Beta Feedback in the TestFlight app. A screenshot of the
drawing, or the .calister file itself, makes almost any problem quick to find.
Things that are answered already
"What does Calister need?" A Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon or Intel.
"Why can't I draw in Design mode?" On purpose. Every line, arc and curve is made in Sketch mode, the only place the shape of a drawing changes. Design mode paints what the sketch's lines make: any area they enclose can take a fill, and any stretch of line between crossings can take a stroke. Press Tab to switch between the two.
"A rule or a dimension was refused. Why?" It would contradict rules the drawing already has. Calister names the rules in the way, so you can remove one of them or change a number instead.
"Where are my drawings?" Wherever you saved them. A .calister file is an ordinary document:
it can live in any folder, in iCloud Drive, or on a USB stick, and it is readable JSON, so it is
never locked inside the app.
"Can I bring in work from other apps?" Yes. File ▸ Import… (⇧⌘I) opens SVG and DXF files as new drawings, and File ▸ Export… writes SVG, PDF, PNG and DXF.
"What is the AI tools setting?" An optional way for an AI assistant on your own Mac, such as Claude Code, to draw in Calister for you. It is off unless you turn it on; the Privacy Policy explains what it can and cannot see.
