Support
iou is built and run by one person. Write to me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
What this address is for
- Something is broken, or you are stuck. Say what you were doing and what happened. If you can, include the version number from Profile ▸ About & Legal — it is at the bottom of the screen and it tells me exactly which build you are on.
- Reporting someone. This version of iou has no in-app report button, so this address is the
reporting channel. Tell me what you saw, which Network it was in, and the person's
@username. In the meantime you can block them from their profile — a blocked person cannot find you by username, cannot send you a friend request, and cannot invite you to anything. - Privacy, your data, or deleting your account. See the Privacy Policy and the account deletion page first — both the export and the deletion are buttons in the app, so you may not need to write at all. If you cannot get into the app, write and I will handle it from here.
- Anything else. Ideas and complaints are both welcome.
What to expect
One person, so no promised response time and no support hours. Most things get an answer within a few days.
Things that are answered already
"How do I sign in? There's no password field." There isn't one. You enter your email address and iou sends you an 8-digit code — most apps send six, so it is worth knowing the field wants two more. It submits itself once the eighth digit is in. If the code has not arrived, check spam; the resend button unlocks after a short cooldown.
"Can I get my money out?" There is no money in iou. The points in a Network are invented by that Network, have no monetary value, and cannot be exchanged for money. See the Terms.
"Someone deleted their account and my balance still shows their transactions." That is intended. A transaction belongs to two people, so closing an account removes the name and keeps the row — otherwise your balance would change without you doing anything. The account deletion page explains it in full.
